Jolastic

  • Description

This installation relies on the mechanical translation of bodily gestures, to proportional movements of a joystick. The joystick, placed in a wooden cage below the body, moves as the body moves and is in turn connected to a computer running special real-time software. This software analyzes the body movements (looking for features like leaning angle, repetition, rhythmicity) and controls an algorithmic composition in the style of a 4 minute Atari-techno track. Video shows final version of the Jolastic prototype, Providence, Day 6.
