UMN Collaborative Arts Service: Curriculum

As a founding faculty member of the Collaborative Arts program, my colleagues and I have devised the major/minor requirements, established the core curriculum, created the fundamental COLA 1001 course, as well as a number of to-be-permanent course, currently offered as workshops (among the Art for the People/Art on Wheels, the precursor to MAW.

Ali Momeni, Assistant Professor, University of Minnesota

It is finally official:

I have started a faculty position at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. The position is a tenure-track assistant professorship, appointed in the Department of Art and the Interdisciplinary Program for Collaborative Arts (IPCA).

I am looking very forward to the new life, the new environment, new possibilities and my new immediate colleagues: Guerino Mazzola (Music), Michael Sommers (Theater), Diane Willow (Art, Time and Interactivity), and Lynn Lukkas (Art, Time and Interactivity) and Michael Cherlin (Music, Director of IPCA).

This fall, I will teach two courses; the first on Experimental Video, and the second on Time.

And the best part: my email address in a university with 60,000 people: ali at umn dot edu

Sagitarius and Scorpio

What’s the best thing about the Scorpio-Sagittarius relationship? The security and flexibility they can give one another. Once they open up to one another and to appreciate their different philosophies in love and in life, these two have potential for steamy relations, deep connections and heartfelt respect. As long as they communicate and celebrate their differences, theirs will be a passionate relationship.

My grandmother once asked me if I need something. Knowing she’d be happy to provide it, I asked for a yellow hat, which she knit in 3 hours and put in the mail. The hat never made it across the puddle. Months later she asked me, “how did you like the hat?” I said, “well, in never got here….”. She was so annoyed that in the ensuing 3 weeks, she knit me 4 hats and four matching sweaters!

This red one was made for Jay.

And the best part: none of the 4 hats or 4 sweaters are yellow!

The”main instructor” refers to you Ali Momeni, whereas the guest lecturers refer to the invitees who began the classes and presented on Friday night.

Most questions are to be answered on a scale of 1 to 7; unless otherwise noted, 1 represents the worst rating and 7 the best. Ideally you should leave no questions unanswered!
